Who are we?
Look up! |
Athens Arts' Gallery first opened their doors to the public during the Crawfordsville Strawberry Festival 2010. On June 26, 2010 the gallery was opened for good and at that point there were 18 artist's work filling the walls. Since June there have been many changes, including more artists!
Athens Arts is a non-profit visual arts facility dedicated to presenting quality exhibitions for local and regional artists working in a variety of media.
Athens Arts is officially received by the IRS as a 501(C)3 non-profit organization - retroactive to August 17, 2011. All contributions to Athens Arts are now tax deductible. The gallery originated and continues as a project for the arts through the Crawfordsville Main Street Group and is a recent MCCF and IAC grant recipient.
Athens Arts' mission is to enrich our community through educational programs, workshops and the introduction of individual local artists and their work. We strive to provide both a rich arts facility dedicated to the presentation of quality exhibits for the public as well as an open studio environment that fosters artistic interaction and the creative spirit.
Athens Arts' goal is to collaborate with other local non-profit agencies to promote appreciation and growth for the arts in our community. We seek to become a self-supporting, non-profit gallery that supports local working artists and contributes to the revitalization of a vibrant downtown community.
The gallery offers original artwork for purchase. Every six weeks the gallery shows a new featured artist or exhibit in the special exhibit room.
There are volunteer opportunities, artist and community memberships available.
